Commún was founded by residents of Southwest Denver in 2018. Our work is founded on the knowledge that our community knows what we need to thrive. We work together to develop programs, relationships, and spaces to build our community's resilience.

Since 2018, we have been working as a community to address our most pressing needs. Through one-on-one conversations, community meetings, focus groups, and partnerships, Southwest Denver residents have chosen, informed, designed, and led the programs, spaces, and services that will fill our 40,000 sq. ft. community center when it opens in 2026.

All of our programs are currently fully staffed and funded, designed and led by the very participants they seek to serve. We are excited to open the doors of this community gathering space and welcome neighbors old and new!

Colorado Safe Parking Initiative is a community driven initiative to provide a safe environment for people in the Denver metro area who are sheltering in vehicles because they’re experiencing homelessness.

Sheltering in vehicles is often a first stop for individuals who have been forced to leave their home, for a variety of reasons and perhaps cannot find a new place because of limited affordable housing options. Without intervention and support, many fall deeper into homelessness and may eventually end up on the streets.

Safe parking provides many benefits including safe, legal overnight parking with restroom access, connection to additional supporting services and a caring community to be a part of while they strive to get back on their feet and into suitable, long-term housing.

The Village Institute is a holistic family support center for refugee and immigrant families in Northwest Aurora, Colorado.

They help families build wealth, worth, and wellbeing by bringing family advocacy, resource navigation, career readiness training, early childhood education, and mental health services all under one roof.

The Village Institute’s mission is to cultivate a multigenerational ecosystem that uplifts the power of refugee and immigrant families and brings them closer to their neighbors.
